Concert in honor of local transplant patient

Denver, Colo., June 6, 2016 – In August of 2014, Nancy Bair, of Littleton, was diagnosed with renal failure. Doctors say a kidney transplant is necessary.

While awaiting her transplant, she endures regular dialysis treatments, which take a toll on her quality of life. Currently, Bair, 57, is searching for a living donor match.

The average kidney transplant costs approximately $250,000. And that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover the cost of the transplant, Bair still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications, which are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.

For fundraising support, Bair turned to the National Foundation for Transplants (NFT) for assistance with some of these financial burdens. NFT is a nonprofit organization based in Memphis, Tenn. that helps patients offset their transplant-related expenses through their community-based fundraising program.

“I know this has been a really hard time for Nancy,” said Kay Horne, NFT fundraising consultant. “At NFT, we’re dedicated to helping her raise the funds she needs to afford her lifesaving treatment and care, and I hope this event is a great success.”

Friday, June 17, volunteers are holding a concert from 6 to 8 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 915 E 9th Ave. in Denver.

The concert is free to attend, but there will be a free will offering time, as well as refreshments for purchase.
