GENERAL

National Foundation for Transplants (NFT) is committed to protecting the privacy rights of all individuals it interacts with. NFT will take every reasonable step to maintain the confidentiality of your Personal Information. This Privacy Policy applies to NFT’s website and governs the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information.

ACCOUNTABILITY

NFT is accountable for all Personal Information under its care and control. Any questions relating to NFT’s handling of Personal Information should be directed to technology@transplants.org.

PURPOSE AND TYPES OF INFORMATION COLLECTED

For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, personal information is the information identified in this Privacy Policy which is information about an identifiable individual (“Personal Information”). Personal Information does not include the name, title, and home address or home telephone number. In order to use the Website, it is not necessary for you to provide any information that identifies you personally. If you want to access certain features offered through this Website, it may be necessary to provide Personal Information.

We may also ask for certain Personal Information when you send us a comment or question, or when you request certain information through our Website. If you do not want to give us any Personal Information, you can choose not to use those features of our Website.

Generally, there are three forms of information that NFT collects online: Website Visitor Information, Personal Information and Non-Personal Information.

Website Visitor Information

NFT routinely gathers information on Website activities, such as data on how many people visit the Website, the pages they visit, where they come from, how long they stay, etc. Website visitor information is collected on an aggregate, anonymous basis, which means that no Personal Information is associated with this data. Such information is gathered through the use of web server logs. A web server log is a file where Website activity is stored. We collect this information for the following reasons:

  • Completion and Support of Current Activity
  • Web Site and System Administration

Personal Information

Personal Information is collected on certain pages of the Website. If you decide to contact NFT online to ask a question, learn more about a product or register, download certain software or service applications you will find that those contact forms ask for certain types of Personal Information to assist us in complying with these requests.

NFT may also ask you to provide Personal Information, some optional, some required, on specific pages of the Website. The information requested may include your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, product model and serial numbers and your dates of purchase, credit card and/or debit card information and your comments. Personal Information may be forwarded to NFT or the appropriate NFT affiliate that is equipped to handle your order, inquiry or feedback.

Personal Information is also collected by means of e-mail, voluntary online surveys and as part of any entry for a contest or other promotion.

We will treat such Personal Information as confidential and use it only to consider you for current or future employment opportunities with NFT or any of our affiliated companies and to contact you with respect to such employment opportunities. We will retain your Personal Information for further recruitment opportunities that may arise, unless you tell us that you no longer wish us to retain your information.

Non-Personal Information

NFT also collects information that, alone, cannot be used to identify you (referred to as “non-personal information”) through this Website. Examples of types of non-personal information that we may collect are IP addresses and data stored in cookie files. We describe IP addresses and cookies in more detail below:

Internet Protocol Addresses

An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a number automatically assigned to your computer whenever you access the Internet. This number does not identify your name, e-mail address or other Personal Information. If you request information from this Website, our server will enter your IP address into a log. We use this information to measure Website traffic, to help us to understand how people are using our Website and to hopefully improve your online experience.

This Website may gather certain non-personal information through the use of “cookies”. Cookies are a technology which can be used to provide you with tailored information from a Web site. A cookie is an element of data that a Web site can send to your browser, which may then store it on your system. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether to accept it. Please be aware however, that some parts of this Website may no longer function properly if cookies are disabled

USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We use your Personal Information for three general reasons.

  1. We use Personal Information to provide you with the services that you request.
  2. We may use your Personal Information to send you additional information provided you “opt-in” to receiving such information.
  3. We may use your information in aggregate form to help us evaluate and modify existing services, and to help us develop additional services that are likely to be of interest to our users. You can always choose not to be contacted or to “opt-out” on the registration screen on which your Personal Information is entered. If you later decide that you do not want your Personal Information used for these purposes, you may opt-out by sending an e-mail or letter to us. Please refer to Personal Information: Access below.

Furthermore, we may use the Personal Information to provide you with information about other NFT products and promotions that may be of interest to you.
