Transplant Type - Heart
In 2002, Yadira fainted while driving to work one morning. After undergoing a series of tests, she was diagnosed with Congenital Cardiomyopathy. Her illness has also damaged her kidneys, and she is currently receiving regular dialysis treatments that leave her very exhausted. Doctors told Yadira a heart transplant was essential to her survival.
Thankfully, she received her lifesaving transplant in March 2010 and is recovering well.
Yadira is a very positive person who always looks for the good in everyone. Her optimistic outlook and the steadfast support of her partner, Mariah, have helped her overcome this health battle, but she knows there is a long road ahead of her. Yadira looks forward to enjoying life again, dancing with her friends and spending more time with her family. More than anything, she longs to feel whole again and return to being a productive member of society. But she needs your help.
A heart transplant costs approximately $750,000. And that's only the beginning. Even with health coverage, Yadira faces significant medical expenses. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The cost of post-transplant medications can range from $2,000 to $5,000 per month--and they are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
Because of her health, Yadira is currently unable to work, adding to her financial strain. She has temporarily relocated more than 100 miles from her home to be closer to the transplant center during recovery, incurring substantial costs for travel, food and lodging.
You can help.
