Transplant Type - Liver
In 2007, Randy became very ill and spent hours vomiting blood. His longtime girlfriend, Kathy, finally convinced him to go to the emergency room, where doctors told him he was suffering from a bleeding ulcer and a life-threatening liver disease. Sadly, both Randy's father and grandfather passed away from the same illness. Doctors have told Randy a liver transplant is essential to his survival.
Despite his health issues, Randy is thankful that his family has become much closer throughout this frightening time. He is the type of man who goes out of his way to help others in need, but he now relies on others to help him. His sister Lisa, his mother and Kathy have been incredibly supportive, and they even take time off work to make sure Randy never misses a doctor's appointment or lab visit.
Randy looks forward to his second chance at life and hopes he will one day feel well enough to resume his favorite activities of going to Nascar races, softball and hockey games, and relaxing on the lake. He also looks forward to having the energy to spend more time with his friends and family. But he needs your help.
A liver transplant costs approximately $500,000. And that's only the beginning. Randy faces significant medical expenses related to his transplant. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The cost of post-transplant medications can range from $2,000 to $5,000 per month--and they are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
Because of his declining health, he is unable to work, adding to his financial strain. Randy is anxious to be healthy again so he can once again provide for Kathy and himself.
You can help.
