Transplant Type - Lung

In 2006, Pam was diagnosed with lung disease, which makes it difficult for her to do basic tasks because of shortness of breath. Doctors have told her a lung transplant is critical to her survival. She has been on the transplant waiting list at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis since July 2009.

Throughout this difficult period, she has learned to never take life for granted and is grateful for the opportunity to receive a second chance at life. Pam, a devoted wife and mother, looks forward to the lifesaving transplant that will allow her to take long walks again. She wants nothing more than to live her life without constant coughing or dependence on her oxygen tank. But she needs your help.

A lung transplant costs approximately $450,000. And that's only the beginning. Even with health insurance, Pam faces significant medical expenses. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The medications can cost as much as $5,000 per month--and they are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.

Although Pam worked for the Tipton County School System as a cafeteria monitor at Brighton Elementary School for more than 14 years, she had to quit working in 2006 because of her health. She enjoyed working with children each day, and leaving her job has added to her family's financial strain.
