Transplant Type - Liver
After Mike became ill in 2008, he went to the hospital for testing and was diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. Mike has no family history of the disease, and doctors do not know why his liver began to fail. Doctors told Mike a liver transplant was critical to his survival.
Thankfully, he received his lifesaving transplant in February and is doing well, despite a few setbacks.
Even during this difficult time, Mike remains optimistic by relying on the steadfast support of his family and his strong faith. He looks forward to having the energy to enjoy hunting and fishing with his children again. Mike wants nothing more than to live without his family worrying about his health. But he needs your help.
A liver transplant costs approximately $500,000. And that's only the beginning. Mike faces significant medical expenses related to his transplant. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The cost of post-transplant medications can range from $2,000 to $5,000 per month--and they are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
Because of his declining health, Mike had to leave his job of nearly 25 years with the Mississippi Forestry Department, adding to his financial strain. He has incurred significant travel expenses, as he lives more than 140 miles away from his transplant center.
You can help.
