Transplant Type - Kidney
In 2009, Michael was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease after visiting a local clinic. Doctors have told him a kidney transplant is critical to his survival, and he was recently added to the transplant waiting list at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Michael is a very hardworking man and a father to teenage twins. He looks forward to the lifesaving transplant that will allow him to go back to work and spend many more years watching his children grow up. But he needs your help.
A kidney transplant costs approximately $250,000. And that's only the beginning. Even with insurance, Michael faces significant medical expenses related to his transplant. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The cost of post-transplant medications can range from $2,000 to $5,000 per month--and they are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
Although he enjoyed his job as a carpenter, his declining health has forced him to stop working, adding to his financial strain. Because he must travel more than 75 miles to his transplant center, he incurs significant travel expenses when going to Charleston for his evaluations and doctors' visits.
You can help.
