Transplant Type - Lung
We are so sorry to say that Jim passed away in January 2010.
For many years Jim endured a terrible cough, but doctors couldn't determine the cause. He saw multiple doctors over the course of 10 years before finally being diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. In an effort to treat the disease, Jim underwent a lung transplant in 2007. Sadly, that lung began failing, and doctors told him a second lung transplant was critical to his survival. He received a second lung transplant in November 2009.
Jim always felt fortunate to have spent so many years doing the things he loves. He looked forward to life after his transplant and hoped to enjoy many more years with his sons, granddaughters and his wife, Sandy.
A lung transplant costs approximately $450,000. And that's only the beginning. Even with health coverage, Jim's family faces significant medical expenses related to the transplants, medications, doctors' bills and insurance costs.
Because Jim and Sandy had to travel 500 miles roundtrip to Emory Hospital in Atlanta, the family also incurred substantial expenses related to travel, food and lodging.
You can help.

Thank you for your generosity!
