Transplant Type - Lung
Holly, a devoted wife, has battled chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for the past 17 years. Two physicians, an allergy/immunology specialist and a pulmonologist, have helped her manage the illness for many years, but two years ago the treatments stopped working. Holly now depends on an oxygen tank 24 hours a day, which limits her mobility. Doctors say her only hope for a second chance at life is a double lung transplant. She is on the transplant waiting list at University Hospital in San Antonio.
Holly's career as a medical editor allows her to work from home, but her declining health makes it difficult to do everyday tasks. Just walking short distances is almost impossible for her. Holly also is a Certified Master Gardener. She misses her gardening and numerous volunteer activities.
Despite her struggles, she has high hopes for the future. She knows a lifesaving transplant will give her the freedom she once enjoyed. Holly is thankful for the support of her loved ones and looks forward to spending more time with her family and friends. But she needs your help.
The average double lung transplant costs more than $650,000. And that's only the beginning. Even with health coverage, Holly faces significant expenses. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are expensive and as critical to her survival as the transplant itself. She expects out-of-pocket expenses in the months to come to exceed $100,000.
You can help! Your gift to the NFT Texas Lung Fund in Holly's honor will enable NFT to help with her transplant-related expenses. Your contribution, large or small, will make a difference in Holly's life. Please click on the link beneath her photo to make an online donation. If you prefer to mail your gift, please send it to NFT Texas Lung Fund, 5350 Poplar Ave., Suite 430, Memphis, TN 38119. Please be sure to write "in honor of Holly Julian" in the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity!
