Transplant Type - Stem Cell

Eric was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) in 2007 and has since faced many health challenges. He has been hospitalized five times since his diagnosis and has endured several different treatments to manage his illness. The only cure for CML is a stem cell transplant.

Fortunately, Eric received his lifesaving stem cell transplant in December 2008.

The average stem cell transplant costs approximately $450,000, and Eric's health insurance will cover only a portion of these expenses. Unfortunately, his declining health prevents him from working, making it even more difficult for him to handle these expenses.

Eric will also need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications for the rest of his life. The medications alone can cost as much as $5,000 each month, and they are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
