Transplant Type - Lung

In 1989, Elizabeth was diagnosed with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. Although the disease has worsened during the last seven years, she feels fortunate that she was diagnosed in the early stages of the disease. Doctors have told Elizabeth a double-lung transplant is critical to her survival, and she has been on the transplant waiting list at the UH Case Medical Center in Cleveland since 2008.

A true artist, Elizabeth spends her time designing stationery, creating metal arts and calligraphic pieces. She looks forward to feeling well enough to return to a normal way of life, enjoying hobbies such as taking long drives, going on walks and dancing. Elizabeth wants nothing more than to spend many more years with her children and young granddaughter. But she needs your help.

A double-lung transplant costs approximately $650,000. And that's only the beginning. Even with health insurance, Elizabeth faces significant medical expenses. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The medications can cost as much as $5,000 per month--and they are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.

You can help.
