Transplant Type - Bone Marrow

Last year, Dona was hospitalized for more than two months while being tested and treated for her illness. While in the hospital, Dona was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Doctors told her a bone marrow transplant was her only hope for a second chance at life.

This mother to three young boys, Devon, Christopher and Dustin, refused to give up on life. Dona wants nothing more than to spend many more years watching her sons grow up. But she needs your help.

A bone marrow transplant costs approximately $300,000. And that's only the beginning. Even with health insurance, Dona faces significant medical expenses. She will need follow-up care and medications to ensure her body accepts the new bone marrow.

After being a stay-at-home mom for the past three years, this shocking diagnosis and transplant have greatly affected her financially. Sadly, her boys have been split up and live with family members because Dona cannot afford to support them all right now.

She will have to temporarily relocate for at least three months to be closer to the transplant center in Tampa during recovery after she receives her transplant. Her boyfriend has quit his job so he can travel with Dona as her caregiver, adding to their financial strain.
