Transplant Type - Bone Marrow

Joannie received her lifesaving stem cell transplant in June 2005 and has been in remission from the cancer since then. She does suffer from some side effects from chemotherapy and othe rmedications but is happy to be healthy and strong.

Joannie's health insurance did not cover the cost of her transplant, and she faced more than $165,000 in expenses for the procedure. Fortunately, her friends and family worked with NFT to raise these funds. She no longer owes the hospital any money!

We're thrilled about Joannie's progress, and look forward to sharing in her future celebrations. However, she will continue to require follow-up care related to her transplant, and those costs can add up quickly.
