Transplant Type - Kidney
After being diagnosed with a chronic kidney disease during her junior year of college, doctors knew a kidney transplant was her only hope for a second chance at life. Without a transplant, Marquita would need a lifetime of dialysis.
Fortunately, Marquita received her lifesaving transplant in January 2009.
Health issues might have stopped some people from pursuing their dreams, but not Marquita. She completed her bachelor's degree in computer science, and later obtained a master's degree in the same field.
Marquita views each day as a blessing and plans to continue fighting her illness. She looks forward to the independence the kidney transplant will give her. But she needs your help.
A kidney transplant costs approximately $250,000, and that's only the beginning. Even with medical coverage, Marquita faces significant medical expenses. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The cost of post-transplant medications can range from $2,000 to $5,000 per month--and they are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
Please help! Your gift to the NFT South Carolina Kidney Fund will enable us to assist Marquita with her transplant expenses. To make a secure online donation, please click on the link beneath Marquita's photo. If you prefer to mail your gift, please send it to NFT South Carolina Kidney Fund, 5350 Poplar Ave., Suite 430, Memphis, TN 38119. Please be sure to write "in honor of Marquita Priester" in the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity!
