August Patient of the Month: Laura Martin
In 2008, Laura Martin was diagnosed with Goodpasture’s syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that damaged her kidneys.
At that time her kidneys were functioning at just 20 percent, and they had completely failed by 2011. Doctors said a kidney transplant was necessary. Thankfully, she received her transplant on May 20, 2016! She must continue fundraising so she can afford the post-transplant medications and care. While awaiting her transplant, she endured regular dialysis treatments, which took a toll on her quality of life.
