July 2016

Fore! It's almost time for the 2016 Raise Hope Golf Classic presented by ACCESS Data Network Solutions, Inc. We couldn't be more excited about this year's tournament, and we hope you'll help us make it the best year yet.

This year's classic will take place Monday, October 3 at the beautiful Windyke Country Club.

Tionesta, Penn., July 19, 2016 – In late 2015, Gail Sullivan, of Pleasantville, began experiencing chills and symptoms of a stomach bug. She lost 10 to 15 pounds, and her daughter, Sara, insisted that she see a doctor.

After visits with three different doctors and a battery of tests, Sullivan, 63, was diagnosed with a life-threatening liver disease. Doctors say a liver transplant is critical to her survival.

Inman, S.C., July 12, 2016 – Although it wasn’t discovered until she was an adult, Shannon Zimmerman, of Inman, was born with a heart defect that eventually caused pulmonary hypertension, requiring a double-lung transplant in 2002.

For years, Zimmerman, 44, was able to enjoy a new lease on life with her new lungs, but now they’re failing once again as a result of scarring from mycoplasma pneumonia and a secondary infection. Doctors say a second double-lung transplant is critical.

Pinehurst, N.C., July 7, 2016– In 2008, Ellis Ray, of Foxfire Village, returned home to help his father care for his mother, who had suffered a stroke and congestive heart failure. Sadly, she passed away the following year, and in the midst of those challenges, Ray, 63, was diagnosed with kidney disease. Doctors said a kidney transplant was necessary.

Thankfully, he received a new kidney on July 1 and is recovering well.
