After undergoing shoulder surgery in 2009, blood work revealed that Richard is diabetic. His health continued to worsen, and doctors discovered he also suffers from a life-threatening liver disease. They now say both a kidney and liver transplant are critical to his survival, and he was added to the transplant waiting list in January 2011.

Calumet City, Ill., March 16, 2012 – Pamela Carpenter wants nothing more than to take a deep breath. She’s waiting for a lifesaving lung transplant, but the costs are overwhelming. Volunteers are planning a fundraiser to help.

Carpenter was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 1992, after a prolonged cough and several bouts with pneumonia. The illness has permanently scarred her lungs. Doctors now say a double-lung transplant is critical to her survival, and she was added to the transplant waiting list earlier this year.

Durham, N.C., March 5, 2012 – Deborah Stewart is waiting for the phone call that will change her life. She needs a kidney transplant, but the costs are overwhelming. Volunteers are planning several fundraisers to help.

In 2004, Stewart received a liver transplant after battling sarcoidosis, a disease that caused inflammation of her liver. Her essential post-transplant medications caused irreversible damage to her kidneys, and doctors now say a kidney transplant is critical to her survival.
