Organ and Tissue Donation

NFT is dedicated to helping transplant patients overcome the financial obstacles that may prevent them from receiving or maintaining their gift of life. Unfortunately, transplant expenses aren´t the only obstacle facing patients. There is a severe shortage of organ donors in the United States, preventing thousands of patients from receiving their lifesaving transplants.

Nearly 100,000 patients are currently listed on the national transplant waiting list. Sadly, only about 23,000 transplants are performed every year. The need for organ donors is critical, and NFT encourages everyone to take the appropriate steps to become a donor.

Many people are fearful of organ donation because they don´t fully understand the process. There are many misconceptions about organ donation that prevent individuals from signing up to become an organ donor. We hope we can alleviate your fears and prove to you that organ donation is one of the most powerful gifts you can offer another person.

Facts about organ donation:

  2. All major religions approve of organ and tissue donation and consider donation the greatest gift.
  3. An open casket funeral is possible for organ and tissue donors.
  4. There is no cost to the donor's family or estate for organ and tissue donation. Funeral costs remain the responsibility of the family.
  5. People of all ages and medical histories should consider themselves potential donors. Your medical condition at the time of death will determine what organs and tissue can be donated.
